A Day in Columbia | Dawn Burns

Columbia, TN is about 45 miles south of Nashville and has a reputation of being "the dimple of the universe." Nestled along the banks of the Duck River, Columbia is bursting with southern charm, unique shops, rich history and has a motto of Something Good Around Every Corner!

My daughter and I took off for a day of exploring this Tennessee Small Town and we found some places you'll want to visit as soon as possible!

First up, Sweet Bakes Donuts! Sweet Bakes serves scratch made donuts and cakes from their new location in the Columbia Arts Building! You may also see them around town at Farmer's Markets and events in their '74 Lincraft camper!

Just across the square is Lily Jane Boutique. The friendliest staff will welcome you like you've been coming in for years! They have the most comfortable jeans, cute dress and a wonderful selection of gifts!

Hattie Jane's Creamery, the sweetest shop on the square. Hattie Jane's is an artisan ice cream scooping creative flavors in homemade waffle cones! They are also known for their Unicorn Hot Chocolate, which was recently featured on the Today Show! I can honestly say that it tastes as good as it looks!

All that shopping and eating made us want to cozy up in Duck River Books! This independently owned book store will have you wanting to browse books for hours!

And you can't visit Columbia without grabbing a Muletown Coffee! Muletown Coffee is ethically sourced and fresh roasted!

Speaking of mules, Columbia is the "Mule Capital" of the world. Each year, the town celebrates with Mule Day. Mule Day is a four day event with a crafts festival, flea market, mule contests, barbecue and more! This year's Mule Day will be April 2nd-8th!

Plan a day to travel to this little town, you may not want to leave though!
