Nashville, the capital and cultural center of the great state of Tennessee, has a lot to offer visitors this Christmas season. Known for its music scene, hiking and outdoor experiences, and vibrant city life packed full of charm, this Christmas season in Nashville has lots in store for the perfect family experience.
Whether you already have the best outdoorsy vehicles in mind to travel in such as SUVs or RVs, or if you plan on jumping on a bus to get around, there is going to be something for everyone.
Go Off-Roading at the WindRock Park
WindRock Park is located a short drive east of Nashville just before Knoxville and offers adventure seekers a range of outdoor experiences centered on off-roading. If you have access to the best outdoorsy vehicles, then you can bring them with you onto their many 4X4 trails or hire something from their selection of dirt bikes and other off-roading vehicles. Their campground is the perfect place to park an RV so that you can stay longer and enjoy the benefits of the park, making this one of the prime locations to visit during the Christmas season.
You will find some of the best outdoor vehicles in Nashville, so don’t feel you have to drive your SUV across the country for this experience when you can travel light and find a set of wheels once you arrive.
Live Music Road Trip
If you are ready for a quality road trip in your RV or SUV, then you will want to consider a live music road trip in and around Nashville. Venues such as Marathon Music Works see some of the best bands in the region and country performing during the festive season. This year, they will have Grammy award-winning artist Billy Strings performing.
While on the road, you will also want to stop off at the 3rd and Lindsley venue as well as BB King’s Blues Club for an experience you won’t soon forget that brings local talent along with national and international names in the music industry into one place.
Bus tours are a great option for the entire family to enjoy as you ride all around Nashville’s best sites trying to catch your breath while laughing more than you ever have before. Humor, joking, and having fun is a great way to celebrate the festive season with your family as the comedians onboard let everyone know what being a redneck truly is from a local's point of view.
The Jingle Beat Drive-Thru at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway
For Christmas, the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is going to be kitted out for the Jingle Beat Drive-Thru. Jingle Beat is a light, sound, and sensory experience that brings everything Christmas directly to you and your family while you navigate through the speedway and enjoy everything that it offers from the safety of your own vehicle.
It is like driving through a Christmas light show wonderland without having to deal with crowds as your family can remain in the car without missing anything, and the best part is that it is suitable for all ages.
Cheekwood Garden’s Holiday Lights
The Cheekwood Gardens are a marvel to behold on an ordinary day in Nashville. For the Christmas season, however, they wrap the entire garden with over a million lights to create a magical nighttime spectacle that is bathed in all the Christmas colors. Kids can meet Santa Claus along with two of his reindeer and have their pictures taken before you enjoy the mile-long illuminated walk through the gardens for a relaxing night.
Public Square Park’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
One of the most iconic parts of the Nashville Christmas scene is lighting the giant tree in downtown Nashville. This year, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place on the 3rd of December so if you want to catch it you will want to be at Public Square Park before 5.30 pm. There is always music and food trucks at this event to keep you and your family entertained, and Santa always appears for photoshoots and to give out surprise presents.
Enjoy Music City WinterFest at Centennial Park
Centennial Park’s annual Music City WinterFest combines live music, local crafts and goods markets, and an array of food truck options that will give you some of the best festive flavors around. They normally incorporate inflatable rides for kids to play on, and the markets also include performers in case you need some additional entertainment than what they already offer on the stage.
Reindeer Run Tube Park
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a winter-themed tube park, and the Reindeer Run fulfills this role perfectly. The Reindeer Run Tube Park is suitable for all ages, and all it takes is grabbing a tube before jumping down the 32-foot ice slides. It is like tobogganing in the middle of the city and will give everyone who tries it out a rush.
Nashville is packed full of great Christmas attractions for people of all ages, making it a great family destination. Pull up your RV to one of the great campgrounds, go off-roading in an SUV, tour the many local music venues, or stop off at the seasonal Christmas celebrations and enjoy the food and everything the city offers. You can’t miss a Christmas in Nashville this year.
